Girls Varsity Soccer · Alumni Turned Soccer Coach

Hanover Central Girls soccer team has had a great start to their season. The 6-0 record wouldn’t have been possible without Coach BK Sakelaris. She coaches the goalies and makes sure they are prepared for the game. She is also a Hanover Central alum. Let’s learn some more about her!

  • What year did you graduate Hanover Central?
    • I graduated in 2013.
  • What did you do after attending HC?
    • I went to St. Joseph’s College, a Division 2 college, to play as their soccer goalie.  I was the last graduating class before it closed. I then went to Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania for graduate school.
  • What made you want to become a coach?
    • Being the goalie coach takes stress off of Coach Jim, and I was very trained in the position. I also want the goalies to succeed. I want them to break my records.
  • Why did you choose HC?
    • Coach Jim was a big reason. He’s a great coach. I also wanted to give back to my alma mater.
  • How many years have you been coaching?
    • I’ve been helping Coach Jim out ever since I graduated, but I’ve been full-time for two years.
  • Did you participate in any other extracurricular activities while at HC?
    • I was in yearbook, track, and key club. I also played club soccer.
  • Favorite Hanover Memory?
    • Winning sectionals my junior year.
  • Favorite Coaching Memory?
    • Maddie Stutsman making the game winning save against Portage.
  • Biggest soccer accomplishment?
    • I hold two records. I had nine shutouts in one season and 24 overall.
  • Pre-game ritual?
    • I listen to music, talk to my other coaches on the bus, and prepare the goalies.
