Kyle Krooswyk and Bryan Hoover had a fun time interviewing Jared Comia.
Jared is a senior at Hanover Central High School, who just committed to the University of Illinois.
What age did you start playing baseball?
I started playing baseball when I was 5.
Have you played any other sports along with baseball?
Growing up I played football and basketball and played basketball my freshman year.
Growing up, did you ever expect to sign with a college?
It was always a dream, but as a kid you never really think about your dreams becoming reality. It’s surreal that I am signing after dreaming about this as a kid.
Did you have any other colleges in mind? I was in contact with Purdue University, Indiana University, University of Louisville, and Xavier University.
What made you decide this college over the others? The University of Illinois felt like home.
When I stepped on campus for the first time, I was very comfortable. It is also very helpful that my cousin, Branden, plays baseball there as well. Illinois is also home to one of the best business schools in the world and business is the major I chose for college.
What position do you play?
I play the outfield
Favorite memory of your baseball career?
My favorite memory was the day I decided that I wanted to play college baseball at Illinois. I didn’t know if I actually wanted to announce my commitment to the school, but later that day I had a game and ended up hitting my 1st varsity home run. At that point, I knew that going to Illinois was the right decision for me and my future.
