From West Gym:
Another Senior Night in the books, it comes from the girls basketball team. Six seniors walked across the West Gym floor accompanied by their parents Tuesday night. The seniors include: Julia Blue, Savannah Ferry, Maddie Kartz, Star Sanchez, Nevaeh Govert, and Sarah Piepho. These girls have put in the time and effort to be recognized on this special day. The time since they walked into the school as a little freshman to now being the top dog of the school, they put everything they had into the basketball program. After the festivities were over, each team had their 20 minute warmups. The horn sounded and it was time for some region basketball for the first time in West Gym this year. The Trojans started off hot, catching an early lead for most of the game. A close battle throughout the whole game until the third quarter when Highland jumped out to a nine point lead. Start of the fourth quarter the ‘Cats came out firing, cutting the deficit to zero and holding off the late Highland surge. The Wildcats held on to the win with efforts from their seniors Star Sanchez with 18 points and Nevaeh Govert adding in 13 points. The Wildcat’s were able to capitalize off of key free throws from several different players. This was a great win for the ‘Cats, as they were still missing key pieces to their team. The seniors really put it all on the line for their Senior Night, and it showed. From Mrs. Bermes and Coach Roldan, THANK YOU SENIORS!!!!!!
