The Hanover Central Boys Varsity Basketball Team traveled to Calumet High School Saturday one last time to take on the Warriors for the Sectional 18 Championship. Walking into a hostile environment the Wildcats found themselves in a battle that saw several lead changes in the first half. Down by two points at the start of the second half, Hanover took control in the third and slowly extended their lead. Withstanding a fierce fourth quarter comeback bid by Calumet the Wildcats hit several free throws down the stretch to secure victory and for the first time in 33 years the Hanover Boys Varsity Basketball Team held the IHSAA Sectional Championship Trophy High. The team saw a very balanced scoring attack and the Wildcats were led in scoring by TJ Burt with 12pts, while Joey Glidewell, Dom Lucido, and Luke Barach all added 10pts. Hanover will travel to South Bend Washington on Saturday March 9 where they will play Culver Academy in the first game of the Regional.
