On Saturday the cross-country teams traveled to Hebron for the Dave Walker Invitational. The boys narrowly defeated Hebron for the team title 44-46. Brayden Kurczewski, Danny Kartz and Ashton Verbish finished 3,4, and 5, respectively. Landedn Coduti and Lincoln Zerby finished 12th and 20th.
The boys “B” race was not scored, but it would have been won by the young Wildcats by nearly 20 points. This race was run by our 5th graders. Jacksen Coduti, John Nelson, and Joey Johnson finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Braden Flood 10th, and Cody Moen 18th.
Our girls finished just 13 points behind last year’s small school state champions, the Lady Bombers of Rensselaer. Scarlett Nelson finished 3rd, Shannon Nelson 8th and Skylar Nelson 9th. Leah Hernandez, Aubrey Flood, and Hannah Kieffer fiinished 14th, 17th and 18th.
The girls “B” race was also not scored, but our girls would have finished 2nd. Rayna Rogers finished 7th, Mackenzie Iverson 11th, Molly Miller 14th, Teylor Stilley 15th, Alyson O’Connell 16th, and Madison Phillips 17th.
For the boys, Brayden Kurczewski, Ashton Verbish, Landen Coduti, Ryan Sandberg, and Logan Sus ran personal best times.
For the girls, Aubrey Flood ran a personal best time.
The teams were rained out of their meet Tuesday @ Clark, but will run Thursday at Kankakee Valley Middle School.
