The Lady Wildcats welcomed the Whiting Oilers to town for a well- attended Friday night tilt. The team jumped out one of its best starts of the season with a 9-2 run. That run was short lived as they then had difficulty getting back on track, going into the half with a 24-20 deficit. The troubles continued in the third, but the Lady Oilers could not shake the Lady Wildcats. Late in the game, the home team found itself down by six or seven, when they went on a run. While the team only went 9-18 in the final stanza, they hit the ones they needed to creep closer. Amanda Schreiber rebounded a Sarah Spangler missed free-throw and tied the game at 48. Later, with 12+seconds left, Julianna Bartoszek hit the second of two free throws to take the lead. Whiting had two inbound possibilities fro under the basket, but failed to score, securing the Lady Wildcats first GSSC win of the season. Amanda Schreiber scored 11 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter. Julianna Bartoszek carried the third quarter with 6 points and finished with 12. Bri Kickert finished the game with 9 points. The team has a short turn-around tomorrow as they travel to Kouts to face the Fillies.
