After nearly a week without a match, the Lady Wildcats showed a little rust in dropping the opening set on Wed. night. The ‘cats returned to form and swept the next three sets from the visiting Hobart squad to arise victorious on Dig Pink Night. Sarah Spangler brought the pain, literally and figuratively, hammering down 18 kills. The senior co-captain also contributed 4 aces, a block kill and 10 digs to the cause. The team is now 19-2 on the season.

Statables:
Katie Jackowski 8 kills, 2 block kills
Peyton Frost 6 kills, 4 aces
Kari DeYoung 5 kills
Ashlie Albrecht 3 aces, 36 assists
Jenna Voticke 17 for 17 receiving with 15 digs, 2 assists
Julianna Bartoszek 4 for 4 receiving withj 9 digs
Brianna Kickert 5 for 6 receiving with 7 digs

Notes: The Dig Pink bake sale & 50/50 raffle raised $316 that will be donated to the Sideout Foundation. The Lady Wildcats now have 4 players with over 100 kills this season (Spangler 194, DeYoung 115, Jackowski 109, Frost 108) and have 3 players with 100 digs (Voticke 287, Spangler 188, Albrecht 100). Spangler’s 18 kills ties her season high, the OH also had 18 against Chesterton. Sarah’s career high is 19 against Rensselaer in last year’s sectional semi-final match. The winning streak has reached 18 matches.

The team hops on a bus and travels to Highland for a non-conference battle tonight.

Special Note: Thank you to everyone who contributed to last night’s Dig Pink success. To everyone who donated their time, or baked goods, or anything…a sincere thanks. This year’s event raised more than 2x last years event! Great job all!
